jstn: Make a visit to Hearst Castle if you ever get the chance, it’s just as ridiculous as the Xanadu newsreels from Citizen Kane make it seem. It’s built almost entirely from pieces from somewhere else in space and time (real Roman columns, ancient Egyptian statues, ceilings from other castles, the façade from a Spanish cathedral…) They’re glued together by steel-reinforced concrete...
