    World's oceans in 'shocking' decline

    The oceans are in a worse state than previously suspected, according to an expert panel of scientists.

    IPSO’s immediate recommendations include:

    1. stopping exploitative fishing now, with special emphasis on the high seas where currently there is little effective regulation
    2. mapping and then reducing the input of pollutants including plastics, agricultural fertilisers and human waste
    3. making sharp reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

    I’ll add  

    4. Eating ocean friendly seafood
